Lietuvos rytas

Daily newspaper

Lietuvos rytas is the successor to the Soviet newspaper Komjaunimo tiesa. It is Lithuania's most influential daily newspaper. A liberal paper, it is owned by the Lietuvos rytas media group whose majority shareholders are the paper's editor-in-chief Gedvydas Vainauskas and the Big Group company. It has repeatedly been accused of allowing itself to be influenced by politicians and business interests. Vainauskas is currently on trial for corruption.
