NRC.next has been published five times a week since 2006. It is the morning edition of NRC Handelsblad. It originally targeted younger readers. The texts were written by the paper's own editors and columnists with a focus on technology, science, the Internet and new media. Since 2011 next was gradually integrated into its parent paper, with the texts appearing in both editions. This trend aims to eventually merge the two papers into one. The entire editing team now focuses primarily on the online publication.
