The daily newspaper Sabah has a high circulation and is seen as an important mouthpiece of the Turkish AKP government. It describes itself as a liberal mass paper. Like TV broadcaster ATV it belongs to Turkuvaz Media Group. In 2007 it was acquired by the pro-government conglomerate Çalık Holding and then sold in 2013 to the Kaylon Group, another pro-government group that is mainly active in the building sector.
