The French version of the American website slate.com was founded in 2009 by former editor-in-chief of Le Monde, Jean-Marie Colombani. The founders still have a majority stake in it today. The investment company Edmond de Rothschild has held the majority of shares since 2017. slate.fr focuses on commentary pieces and analyses - also in the form of podcasts - that aim to provide readers with a more international perspective.
