Der Stern is one of Germany's three big weekly magazines with a focus on reportage, profiles and “utility/user-value journalism” although it makes heavier use of photos and photo series than Spiegel. The magazine also made a name for itself through investigative research into the Lidl corporation in 2008 for example, and Deutsche Bank in 2009.
