The Evening Standard

Daily newspaper

The London daily dominates in the British capital, riding on the strength of its local reporting. Its business model was revamped in 2009 in the wake of a sharp decline in sales, which had plunged it into financial difficulties. The paper has since been distributed free of charge in central London with a greatly increased circulation. In March 2017 former Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osbourne took over as the paper's chief editor.
