Daily newspaper

The daily newspaper Trud (Work) was founded as a trade union paper in 1936. It was privatised in 1991. Under its new owner and editor-in-chief Tosho Toshev the paper achieved record circulation figures in the mid-1990s. Despite rumours of close ties to the Bulgarian mafia Tosho Toshev remained the paper's chief editor until 2010. Journalist and media entrepreneur Petyo Blaskov took over as its publisher and editor-in-chief in 2014.
