15min is part of the 15min Group in which the Estonian Postimees Group has a 60 percent stake. However, control of its management is exercised by the Lithuanian minority shareholder 4 Bees. It was previously owned by the Norwegian company Schibsted and is the successor to the free paper 15 minučių. The print version was hard-hit in the 2008 financial crisis and discontinued in 2012. The website also suffered heavy losses. Since December 2019 the website has featured paid as well as free-access content.
