The web portal OdaTV was founded in Istanbul in 2007 by two journalists Cüneyt Özdemir and Soner Yalçın and was critical of the government from the outset. Yalçın maintained in his texts the view that Turkey had been infiltrated by crypto-Jews. In 2011, in the course of the Ergenekon investigations he and three other OdaTV editors were arrested and their homes were searched. They were accused belonging to the secret Ergenekon group and of a breach of secrecy. The prize-winning OdaTV investigative journalist Nedim Şener was later arrested and held in custody for a year. In 2015 they were all acquitted due to lack of evidence.
