Originally founded by the American Jed Sunden, the weekly magazine Korrespondent, published since 2002, was long regarded as the leading West-leaning journal. After being sold in November 2013 to the then pro-government Ukrainski Media Holding (United Media Holding group), the magazine lost more and more readers, also due to the departure of the original editorial team. The Russian-language magazine was discontinued during the Covid crisis. However, its bilingual website Korrespondent.net, founded in 2000, continues to attract many readers.
