The infoLibre website was founded in 2013 by a group of journalists from Público, El País and Radio Televisión Española. The ad-free website is financed by contributions from media and publishers with a similar ideology (including Mediapart in France) as well as subscribers and a circle of friends that includes well-known activists, intellectuals and artists. InfoLibre calls itself "a digital newspaper committed to high-quality, honest, rigorous, participatory and engaged information and journalism". It has sections on politics, opinion, business, culture, equality, environment and media. There is no coverage of international affairs.
