Daily newspaper

The tabloid Õhtuleht was published for the first time in 1944 straight after the withdrawal of the German Wehrmacht. It passed into the hands of the Ekspress Grupp once Estonia achieved independence. The Eesti Meedia group founded the Sõnumileht newspaper to compete with Õhtuleht in 1995. This resulted in losses for both papers, prompting them to merge into SL Õhtuleht in 2000. In 2008 the paper switched back to its old name. The focus is on classic tabloid content, but since the beginning of 2019 has increasingly had good political analysis texts.
