RBK started out as an online business newspaper but over time a TV station, a daily newspaper and a monthly magazine were added. In 2010, the oligarch Mikhail Prokhorov acquired the majority stake in the group. In 2016 RBK came under pressure from the Kremlin following a series of publications on the Panama Papers, after which the editor-in-chief was replaced. In 2017, Prokhorov sold the media holding to industrialist Grigory Berezkin.
