Ever since it was first founded the weekly paper Mladina has been a harsh critic of old ways of thinking and current politics. In the 1980s the weekly made a name for itself by dealing with taboo topics, press freedom and freedom of expression, as well as the privileges of the socialist "nomenclatura". For some years now, Mladina, like all print media in the country, has been struggling with declining reader numbers.
