Ever since it was first founded the weekly paper Mladina has been a harsh critic of old ways of thinking and current politics. In the 1980s the weekly made a name for itself by dealing with taboo topics, press freedom and freedom of expression, as well as the privileges of the socialist "nomenclatura". Mladina is currently one of Slovenia's most influential political publications but is struggling with declining reader numbers.
